Sultan Urges Muslims To Look Out For New Moon Today

Today, being the 29th day of Ramadan, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on Muslims nationwide to look out for the new moon of Shawwal.
The Sultan, in a statement by chairman, Sultanate Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, said: “This is to inform Muslim Ummah that Saturday 26th July, 2014, equivalent to 29th day of Ramadan 1435AH, shall be the day to look for the new moon of Shawwal 1435AH.

“Muslims are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon of Shawwal on Saturday (today) and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111 CFR, MNI, the Sultan of Sokoto.

“May Allah (S.W.T) help us in the discharge of this religious duty”, the statement said.
