Kelechi Iheanacho has earned Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini's backing after scoring in his first appearance with the first team against Sporting Kansas.
The Under-17 FIFA World Cup star was handed his first-team debut this week and scored the Premier League champions' final goal to seal the 4-1 victory.

The Nigerian youngster left a lasting impression on the City boss, after playing 89 minutes before making way for Javi Garcia.

"Kelechi is just 17 years old and he's a very important player for us in the future," Pellegrini told MEN Sport.

"He demonstrated today what he can do in the future. It depends on the way he takes this profession, but I think he's a good talent," he added.
Bruno Zuculini, Dedryck Boyata, Aleksandar Kolarov were the other scorers for the Citizens, with C.J Sapong netting for Kansas.
