Following her conversion to Islam last year after she married Qatari billionaire businessman Wissam al Mana in 2012, reports have it that Janet Jackson is observing her first Ramadan fast since she joined what the Western world calls the “Muslim Club.”

International Business Times, IBT, UK, reports that the 48-year-old American pop star, who was raised in a Christian family, is observing the on-going Ramadan fast with her husband in Qatar.

Her marriage to al Mana is her third marriage and her last major media appearance was in a Tyler Perry film, ‘Why Did I Get Married?’
Islam is not new to the Jackson family as her elder brother Jermaine, in 1989 publicly announced his conversion to Islam after a tour of the Middle East. He then became Muhammad Abdul-Aziz.

In 2008 media reports also had it that the King of pop Michael Jackson had converted to Islam. Many newspapers also wrote that Michael was buried according to Islamic rites and his elder brother Jermaine played an important role in MJ’s conversion to Islam and his funeral.

Janet, who got married to the billionaire Wissam Al Mana at a private ceremony in 2012, had announced her eagerness to leave the limelight and live a private life with her husband.  She is less a social media person now and last tweeted on June 9.
